Hal Mumme is a pioneering offensive mind best known as one of the architects of the Air Raid system, a philosophy that transformed modern passing attacks at every level of football. With decades of collegiate and professional coaching experience, Mumme has built a reputation for quarterback development, innovative play design, and explosive offenses. His career has included multiple head coaching stops and a lasting influence on generations of coaches who have adopted his wide-open, high-tempo approach.
Now serving as Head Coach of the Indianapolis Capitols, Mumme brings veteran leadership and a dynamic offensive identity to the organization. Prior to joining the Capitols, he was the head coach of The Linemen in The Spring League, where he continued to showcase his ability to develop talent and implement high-powered offensive systems. His experience and forward-thinking philosophy position the Capitols to compete with confidence and creativity on the professional stage.
Edward Childress brings a rare and distinguished combination of military service, elite business acumen, and deep football expertise to his role with the Indianapolis Capitols. A decorated veteran and accomplished executive, he has spent his career demonstrating that the principles forged in uniform — discipline, mission focus, and servant leadership — translate directly into championship-caliber organizations.
As a young man, he answered the call to serve his country through the United States military. Following his service, he embarked on a 20-year career in business leadership, overseeing Fortune 500 projects totaling in excess of $100 million. Alongside his business career, he has dedicated 10 years to football coaching — giving him a singular perspective that few leaders in the game can match.
Mike Fanoga will be bringing 40 years of coaching experience to the Indianapolis Capitols. Majority of his coaching career was at the collegiate level. Fanogas' most recent coaching position was as Defensive Coordinator at Edward Waters University.
Fanogas collegiate experience consists of coaching at successful and competitive programs such as University of Texas El-Paso, Iowa Wesleyan College, Valdosta State University, Kentucky, Western Kentucky, New Mexico State University, Wyoming, Benedict College, and Morgan State University. In addition to collegiate experience, Fanoga has coached at the highschool level and in Major League football, including participation in the National Football League (NFL) Fellowship program. Doing fellowships with the Miami Dolphins in 1998 and Philadelphia Eagles in 2002.
From Linebackers and the defensive line to defensive coordinator. Fanoga is familiar with all aspects of the defensive game. A few highlights of his coaching over the years include his time at Wyoming from 2009-2011. He coached linebacker Weston Johnson who went on to sign a free agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL. Johnson recorded 106 tackles his senior season, and led the team in tackles for losses (13.0) and interceptions (three). In total, he has coached ten NFL players and two CFL players.
At New Mexico State, Fanoga was associate head coach and defensive line coach under head coach Hal Mumme. He helped coach an Aggie defense that ranked No.1 in the Western Athletic Conference and No. 3 in the nation in pass defense in 2008.
While coaching under head coach Hal Mumme at University of Kentucky, Valdosta State University and Iowa Wesleyan he was a part of the staff that helped guide the UK Wildcats to back-to-back bowl appearances in 1998 and ‘99.
In between his stops at Kentucky and New Mexico State he coached the defensive line at Western Kentucky for five seasons. Over that span of time between 2000-2004 the Hilltoppers earned their way into the NCAA Division I-AA Playoffs each of those five seasons, and captured the 2002 National Championship with a 12-3 record. In 2002, the Hilltopper defense ranked No. 11 in the nation in scoring defense (allowing only 16.4 points per game to opponents), were No. 23 in total defense (279.2 yards per game) and were No. 27 in rushing defense (118.9 yards per game).
Born in American Samoa and later raised in California, Fanoga, is a former linebacker who initially played at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah and transferred to UTEP, where he earned varsity letters and a bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
He is married to his wife, Soana, has a daughter, Sydney, son-in-law, Chase and welcomed his first grandchild, Malia in November of 2025.
Coach Carlson taught and coached at 3 Chicago area high schools after graduation from Concordia University-Chicago. He then started coaching college football at Elmhurst College in suburban Chicago 1982-83.
From there Carlaon was Offensive Line Coach for Franklin College-IN in 1984, Grand Valley State Univ from 1985- 86.
He was Head Coach at Lakeland University -WI from 1987-1989, Taylor Univ-IN from 1990-93, and Tri-State University (Now Trine University) from 1994 to 2002.
In 2001 Coach Carlson was named MSFA Coach of the Year winning the schools first MSFA Championship and playing in the national playoffs.
TSU finished in the NAIA top 25 each season 1998-2002.
From 2003-2009 he was Head Coach of Ohio Dominican Univ.
He was again MSFA Coach of the Year in 2007, as well as American Football Football Coaches Association Reginal Coach of the Year and NAIA National Coach of the Year.
He was NAIA Independent Coach of the Year 2009.
2007 ODU team won school’s first conference championship, finished the regular season 11-0 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA playoffs finishing 6th in the final season poll.
ODU finished in the NAIA Top 15 each season from 2006-2009.
